Public Housing Primary Care

Through its Public Housing Primary Care (PHPC) program, CommuniCare provides public housing and Section 8 residents with access to comprehensive primary healthcare, health education, and supportive services in order to improve their overall health and well-being. The PHPC program is funded through the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, Bureau of Primary Health Care.

Pharmacy

On site pharmacies at Barrio Family Health Center and the Dr. Frank Bryant Health Center fill prescriptions for registered CommuniCare patients from approved drug formularies. CommuniCare Health Centers participates in several medication assistance programs in order to provide patients with lower-cost prescription drugs. Qualifying CommuniCare patients can get prescriptions through Pfizer Pharmaceuticals’ Sharing the Care program or other programs. Patients can ask the pharmacy staff for more information about how to qualify for these programs.

Lab

The Laboratory & Radiology Department provides supportive laboratory and radiology services for CommuniCare Health Centers' providers. On-site laboratory services are available at the Barrio Family Health Center and the Dr. Frank Bryant Health Center.

Also, on-site radiology services are available at Barrio Family Health Center. CommuniCare’s Laboratory & Radiology Department is CLIA Licensed, COLA Accredited, and Certified by the Texas Department of State Health Services’ Bureau of Radiation Control.
